Come to Rutledge for a junk lover’s paradise

The Rutledge Flea Market covers a lot of ground — but that means plenty of vendor variety at the Rutledge Flea Market.

Situated on 60 acres, the first 2024 date for the flea market will be May 10-11. The market returns for two days each month until November. Missouri’s largest consecutive flea market boasts 700 vendors, with new ones being added each year. Cabins are available to rent on the grounds, as well as campgrounds with RV hookups, Wifi, and even an ATM if you’re a little short on cash.

The flea market takes place at 46001 State Highway V near Rutledge. For more information, call 660-216-3223 or visit www.rutledgefleamarket.com.

Bates City Antiques is now Bates City Emporium & Antiques

Big changes have come to a beloved antique store in Missouri. The former Bates City Antique Mall in Bates City is under new ownership.

Vivian Garrett took ownership of the property on Jan. 1 of this year, renaming it Bates City Emporium and Antiques. Garrett has undertaken updating the look of the shop, making repairs inside and out, including welcoming patrons with a new patio at the store’s front entrance.

“We continually strive to provide excellent customer service in a positive and relaxed environment for both our vendors and our customers. We are dedicated to maintaining a clean, organized store, offering a unique mix of antiques and collectibles as well as vintage, repurposed, and handcrafted items,” writes Sue Sanders on behalf of Garrett. “Whether you are collecting, decorating, or looking for a gift, we have something for you. Our goal is to provide a memorable and friendly shopping experience. We look forward to your visit!”

The store is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. In the event calendars in this issue of Discover Vintage America, look for information on a barn sale and outdoor flea market in April; these will take place again in October.
For more information on the store or renting vendor space, call 816-625-1206.
