Neewollah promises another year of family fun

Calling kids of all ages — come out to Independence for another fun-filled Neewollah, Oct. 20-28.

The festival (simply “Halloween” spelled backwards), began in 1919 as an event for kids and families, encouraged to take the place of Halloween pranks and mischief. It’s grown into a weeklong celebration of community with an arts and crafts show, a 5K run and walk, a carnival, BBQ and dessert cook-off, a marching band festival, parade, live entertainment, and the crowning and presentation of the Queen Neelah and her court. This year, musical artists The Oak Ridge Boys close the event with a concert on the evening of Oct. 28.
